  1. Solo show B32

    -

Friday the 12th of February 2016 I'll be showing a project I've been contemplating about for months. A lack of technical and financial means have been holding me back, but it finaly came into realisation through the support of the B32 gallery in Maastricht. Needless to say I'm very grateful and excited to be given the opportunity to further develop my practice!

  2. Can you catch the horizon? You can see it, point at it. You can even take a picture of it, but can you really grab it? It’s something we take for granted because it’s simply there, but it actually only exists in our visual perception. So in a sense it doesn’t ‘exist’ at all. Everything we perceive can only be seen through the interplay between light and dark. Emanuel Riksen is currently setting up his new installation in B32. Weeks of mathematical calculations will result in the perfect alignment of two beams of light. A simulation of something that doesn’t really exist in our tangible surroundings. Research in its purest form.

Wednesday the 9th of December 2015 the theatrical performance INFINITY, directed by Marie van Vollenhoven, will be shown for the first time in the AINSI theatre in Maastricht. Its proving to be something really stunning! I got the wonderful opportunity to exhibit some of my works alongside and I'm very excited for that. Hope to see you there!

  7. Lichtcampus 2015

    -

I had a blast spending one week at the HAW (Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften) in hamburg for 'Lichtcampus 2015' to witness whats going on in the world of 'lightart'. I'm grateful for the invitation to show my own work and express my own vision on the matter. In my opinion, light is the ultimate means to an end. Its fundamental for literaly everything we know, so I think we should keep in mind that everything we create can only exist through the presence of light. 'Lightart' is a doubtfull term given to creations that make obvious use of light, but should an artwork that came to existence through usage of light automaticaly be refered to with this terminology? Again, light is a means to and end, but it's futile to percieve it as an end on itself. I realy enjoyed this week, but I came to the conclusion that I reject the idea of presenting myself as an artist who makes lightart. Light is just indispendable.
